PERFORMANCE:
PHILIP GLASS: STRING QUARTET NO. 4 (BUCZAK)
The spirit of visual artist Brian Buczak (1954—1987) is memorialized in the fourth string quartet of Philip Glass (1937—), one of the composer’s most intimate works. On October 27, 2024, what would have been Buczak’s 70th year of life, the acclaimed Mivos Quartet performed Glass’s tribute in a free concert organized by composer Nick Hallett as part of the Memorial’s live art series.

DAVID WOJNAROWICZ: 70 YEARS
On September 14, 2024, on the occasion of what would have been his 70th birthday, the David Wojnarowicz Foundation in collaboration with the New York City AIDS Memorial, Visual AIDS, and P·P·O·W staged a production of Wojnarowicz’s seminal monologues, The Waterfront Journals, with an incredible roster of special guest readers and music by Rimbaud Hattie.

BROADWAY REVISITED
On March 3, 2025, Broadway stars gathered for a benefit cabaret for the New York City AIDS Memorial at Joe’s Pub. Hosted by Tony Goldwyn and directed by Rob Ashford, the evening featured a dazzling musical review of Broadway’s hidden gems, current moments, and future classics, with all proceeds supporting the Memorial’s upcoming educational and cultural programs.

The New York City AIDS Memorial is located at the corner of Greenwich Avenue and West 12 Street in New York’s historic West Village.
