Upcoming Events
Special Event: A Dance of Life: Violin Music of the AIDS Era
Saturday, June 20, 4—9 PM, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
This performance, co-presented by the New York City AIDS Memorial, revives an important but neglected repertoire of works for violin and piano by composers who died during the AIDS crisis, including rediscovered works from the Library for the Performing Arts' collections. Presented by violinist Giancarlo Latta, joined by pianist Robert Fleitz, the program brings together seven outstanding compositions written between 1975 and 1991, many of which have gone unrecorded and generally unperformed over the past several decades.
West Side Fest: Walking Tour with Poster House
Saturday, July 11, 11 AM, New York City AIDS Memorial & Poster House
Explore the intersection of history, art, and grassroots activism with a guided walking tour of the New York City AIDS Memorial—including its newest site-specific installation, Eternal Flame for Scott Burton by artist Oscar Tuazon—as well as its historic environs. This journey culminates in a visit to the exhibition Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS, curated by Ian Bradley-Perrin at Poster House. This event is part of West Side Fest, a three-day celebration of arts and culture across Manhattan’s historic West Side, organized by the West Side Cultural Network.
