Event: Meet Me on the Dance Floor - presented with The Generations Project

Continuing our successful collaborations with The Generations Project, we hosted a new storytelling event on June 29, 2022, to close out NYC Pride Month and complement our disco-themed, summer-long sculpture installation - Songs for a Memorial - by artist Steven Evans.

Meet Me on the Dance Floor took place under the canopy of the New York City AIDS Memorial directly preceding our silent disco, Dance for a Memorial. Our storytellers - Roberta Degnore, Connie Fleming, David Kennerley, Ed Woodham, and Emanuel Xavier - shared stories about nightlife, partying, clubs, connecting under the disco ball, creating a community, and finding their places in the world through the power of music and dance. The evening also featured an introduction by JP Moraga, was emceed by Summer Minerva, and was opened and closed by the incomparable Castrata, who sang Thelma Houston’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way” and “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta.
