Happy Pride from the NYC AIDS Memorial!
Remember | New York City Pride
Pride is upon us! This weekend we celebrate and commemorate 49 years of Pride in New York City! We Remember 49 years since the Stonewall Riots and Christopher Street Liberation Day changed the world and paved the way for the Gay Rights Movement to take hold. We Reflect on the over 100,000 lives lost in New York City during the height of the AIDS Crisis. And we Renew our commitment to the community and the never-ending fight for justice.
This year’s Pride is an especially significant time for New York City, the community, and the New York City AIDS Memorial as there are some new and exciting things taking place.
This year the parade route will begin just a few blocks from the Memorial on 16th Street and 7th Avenue. The parade will progress past the Memorial and continue around the West Village. Click here for a full map of the parade route. The Memorial will be serving as a place for people who require accessible seating to enjoy the Pride March. Registration is required to reserve a space at the Memorial.
In celebration of Pride, The New York City AIDS Memorial partnered with Equinox in collaboration with Lewis Miller Design to create a 24-hour activation at the Memorial. These impactful and beautiful Flower Flashes were designed as a large-scale hydrangea in the Memorial’s structure.
